This workshop for all artistic levels will appeal to those interested in non-traditional art, but the principles learned can also be applied to representational work. Instruction is "process" oriented, using music and other exercises to assist participants in developing their own way of expressing themselves on canvas or other surfaces. Color mixing and various paint application techniques will be explored.

about sue miller
Born in 1965 in Orillia, Ontario, the setting for Sue’s life has always been about nature and simplicity. Now, living with her three children in the agricultural region of the Niagara Escarpment along with spending time in Newfoundland, Sue finds endless stimuli to develop her majestic landscapes.
Miller’s work has evolved over the span of her 15 year career from purely representational landscapes to more abstract scenes of sky, water and land. Her inspiration comes mainly from the coast lines of the Atlantic region and expansive landscapes around the Georgian Triangle, but are not strictly representative of specific places or scenes. They are Miller’s intuitive response to a collective imprint of landscape. The warm underpainting, contrasted with the viscous layers of paint applied with a palette knife, help to create the mystery and essence of the subject.
These works are more than landscape; they represent the rhythm of life itself. In Miller’s paintings, there is always ground to plant oe’s feet, water to represent life’s ebbs and flows, big sky for perspective and grace, and light on the horizon to keep one balanced and hopeful.
